How do ya like me now?!

I don’t want to get elbow problems from patting myself on the back too much, but, like Melisandre, I have been right about a few things.

On February 17th, I wrote “We are Americans on an Open Road and we are in the Middle of the End of this thing. All is starting to seem beautiful again to me.”

I was making fun of the Boss’s Super Bowl infomercial on what it means to be American. But my point was we were well on our way to getting rid of this. And my other point was Boss, WTF? You showed up for Sandy in a big way, but come Covid, and you don’t show up til it’s almost over?

So, this thing is going the away and it had better stay away.

You may ask yourself; didn’t Stephen also say something about the end of the beginning a long time ago?

I did. And I was right about HCQ, more right than I knew. We just submitted data for publication on critically ill Covid pts from March and April 2020.

People have asked me, what should we do about adults who don’t want to get one of the many successful, safe vaccines.

I say Fuck ‘Em. It’s on them. If they want to be so stupid, that’s their choice.

As for the mask Stasi out there, Fuck ‘em. If they want to wear masks for the rest of your miserable existence, let them. Maybe it will help shut them up.

As for idiots saying young kids, who are not yet eligible for the vaccine and don’t get ill anyway, still have to wear masks, I say…you guessed it.

Fuck ‘Em.

It’s moronic and cruel to make kids 12 and under still wear masks. Let’s assume masks did something besides make people less likely to use the stairs and to cause fights in supermarkets and football stands.

Who cares if these kids get Covid? If their teachers, coaches, parents, grandparents, etc. are all vaccinated, what’s the concern? At what point does individual choice come back to us?

As for kids getting the vaccine, it’s 6 of one and half the other.

The kids are alright, and they are going to stay alright, whether they get the vaccine or not. Dr. Fauci is out of his mind to claim that unvaccinated kids under 12 still need to wear masks. Most Americans, like I, have had enough of this lunacy.

My 19 yo son got it and didn’t even discuss it with me. I would have simply weighed the pro’s and con’s.

The con’s for a 19 yo…hmmm, I’ll get back to you on that.

The pro’s, well those are the result of idiotic restrictions made by humans, not anything medical. Vaccinated college kids have more access to things than unvaccinated ones.

As for the CDC’s abrupt nearly 180° change on masks of FVP (fully vaccinated people), I don’t know what made the director change her mind last week. Maybe Dr. Walensky just couldn’t live with herself anymore in the land where data don’t matter.

Back in March 2021, the New England Journal of Medicine published 3 articles proving that FVPs don’t get infected. The CDC were aware of these data weeks before publication. In other words, the data have been known for a long time. While it was disingenuous for her to state that the science evolved quickly, at least, Director Walensky finally made the right call.

Yes, time for a mask burning party.

On a very personal note -

Last night, I finally made it back to the Porch.

The Porch, which has embraced me and my buddies so well over the years, cradled the next generation. Back from college, home from work, or avoiding high school homework, none was wearing a mask. I could see the kids’ smiles and they all were smiling. There was a lightness or levity I hadn’t seen in 14 months. But the smiles...that was something to behold.

As I looked around in solitary amazement, I had flash backs of kids or their parents I had treated and kids/parents my wife and family had tested. That was eerie, doctors' crap you have to bury.

Then, I scanned the crowd and realized many of the Swab Mob were there. We hadn’t seen each other for a long time. But for the first time since the Swab Mob started, we could hug each other, and we did. These weren’t the “I love you man!” hugs or those strange bro pats; these were knowing hugs, deeper hugs…quietly we celebrated and communicated to each, “Can you believe it’s all fucking over??!?!?!”
