George has a couple of questions

1. There is a new rumor that hails Ivermectin as the new therapeutic medication for COVID. What are your thoughts on this? What is the difference between HCQ and Ivermectin?

I haven't read the ivermectin data completely, but the data, I have, are conflicting.

Ivermectin is an old drug used to treat certain tapeworms.

Chemically, HCQ and ivermectin are very different.

I am a LOT more familiar with the HCQ data.

I2. wish to take the vaccine. However, I feel that I need to test for the COVID antibody first because recent press from notable physicians is stating that those who have the antibody SHOULD NOT take the vaccine due to complications. What are your thoughts on this?

Get the vaccine.

I completely disagree with those who say, "Don't take the vaccine if you have had Covid".

Pretty sure that those doctors haven’t seen what I have seen and am seeing.

Yes, the reaction to the vaccine is probably greater in pts who recovered from Covid, but so what?

Vaccines give much, much better protection against Covid than does recovering from Covid.

Bad Covid is a heck of lot worse that a bad vaccine reaction.

Even moderate Covid is much worse than a bad vaccine reaction.

There has been another resurgence in Jersey.

God, I hate this disease so.

Watching people slowly suffocate is no fun, none at all in fact.

While that sounds trite or flippant, I mean it.

As an ID doc, we expect to see some death.

But with Covid, I have had enough…way too much and it’s still occurring.

More great evidence that those masks…those GD masks are part of the problem, not the solution.

I have queried many people in stores and in hospitals about their opinions on what wearing a mask does.

They all think the masks protect them, the wearers.

We know that is not true from the Danish study and the CDC study.

These people were masks and put themselves at risk by going out more.

On the plus side, I have finally noticed a little downturn in the number of fanatical nurses and doctors in the hospital, who, despite being fully vaccinated, had continued to where full body HAZMAT type equipment.

Just this past week or so, the mask Stasi are less common and less vocal. More and more HCWs are wearing the masks like my buddy Jimmy wore a tie in high school. Fewer are using those GD blue gowns, which come down to my thighs only. For some of the HCWs of short stature, these blue gowns cover down to the ankles or feet. But for anyone above 6 feet, they cover about ½ of your body. And people aren’t re-using the gowns as much either.

We defeat disease by being steady and steadily following the data without prejudice. That, of course, hasn’t much happened in the past 13 months.

In 2020, doctors and experts treated all data equally, except that some data were more equal than other.

But maybe, just maybe, people are starting to again “believe in” science and the application of the same standards to data, regardless of the results.
