Last spring I heard a reputable cardiologist say that after the princess cruise event, they realized that Covid was spread by oral fecal transmission, not droplets. He said ithis as a fact , not a theory. Has the data borne this out ?

I'll answer this question in 2 ways, short and very long.

Short - Nope.

Very Long - One of the fascinating, yet extremely frustrating aspects of communicating and dealing with this infection is that everyone is an expert.

By early April 2020, I had college kids ask me Covid questions and then challenge me on my answer.

Listen, no one likes a good debate more than I, but you can't have a debate on virology with kids who haven't taken biology since 6th grade.

Watching CNN does not make you an expert.

Going to med school doesn't even make you an expert.

Being a reputbale cardiologist sure as shit doesn't make you an expert, nor does being an out of work surgeon, bored at home while ID docs care these very sick pts.

Working your fucking ass off for 30 years and then even harder for the past year?

Well, that gets you to be considered as an expert.

I don't know who this cardiologist is nor his reputation.

I am pretty sure that sure that if he is any good at his chosen profession he doesn't know diddly about infectious diseases.

Similarly, I sure as shit don't know diddly about cardiology and don't comment about cardiology issues.

It's very strange to talk to Covid pts, who have asked for you to be their doctor and then have them voice opinions about Covid therapies or have them tell you about what they have read on Covid.

Listen, if you want to be a Covid expert, all the power to you, because I hate the damn role.

But it means first you have to have a background in infectious diseases, statistics, epidemiology, cellular biology, pharmacokinetics, nephrology, cardiology, pulmonology, hepatology, hematology, critical care medicine and physiology and then it means going out a caring for several hundred Covid pts.

And oh yeah, ryou also have to read hundreds of articles on Covid and decipher which ones are total crap from ones actually are done well and teach you something new about this God foresaken disease.

BTW, I WISH this disease was primarily spread via fecal-oral transmission, because that's easy to block, just wash your hands after defecation.
