“Gov. Phil Murphy ordered nearly all residents to stay home and closed nonessential businesses indefinitely beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday”. (northjersey.com). Jersey residents can still travel to buy groceries or get take-out food, and they can still walk outside, albeit alone or in small groups, but otherwise are to stay within their domiciles.
This draconian measure may be needed politically. Practically, it won’t work. The Volstead Act didn’t work. This won’t work either.
I was disheartened to see drive-thru testing being done in Jersey. I can’t get a test result back in less than 6 days on pts in the ICU and on a ventilator. Drive-thru testing diverts resources to people who aren’t sick. Those resources NEED to be steered towards sick pts, not towards anxious Jerseyans, (a redundant term, I realize). Once testing turn-around-time for sick pts has been reduced to 12 hours, THEN, fine, test the whole damn state.
Social distancing measures have already been enacted. What are these people going to do if they test positive, go live in a hole? No, these selfish people are doing this, hoping they will have something solid to worry and brag, like Billy Crystal and Christopher Guest. What are these poor worriers going to do, if God forbid, the test comes back negative?!
Do the doctors and nurses of Jersey a favor, stay the F home!
If you’re sick, go the ER.
If not, don’t use precious resources just to satisfy your need to perseverate and climb to the top of your peer group of worriers.
Amen Brother!!
