I'm 24 years old living in Syracuse, NY where we are starting to have a major outbreak. I have an autoimmune condition called uveitis (inflammation of the eye). I have been taking Humira for the past year and doing really well in regards to my eyes, but of course have been more susceptible to infections, colds, etc.
Do you think I am more at risk being on Humira? Or do you think Humira would have positive effects if I am exposed to COVID-19? I have contacted and asked my doctors and they say they are still unsure.
Thank you,
Jeanie McCarthy
We do not have data on that such that I know of. However, we have not seen patients on drugs like Humira, with serious COVID, unless they also had diabetes or prediabetes . However, our sample size is about 85 patients. Diabetes or Prediabetes seem to be the most known risk factor.
